How The Cleaning Industry Changed Since The Pandemic

Cleaning and good sanitation practices have always been a priority for professional cleaning companies. However, and especially since the new coronavirus pandemic, these are even more important.

The truth is that cleaning services have not only strengthened in response to fighting COVID-19 but also to safeguard their employees.

If there is something we can say about the cleaning industry is that it is ever-evolving. It has never stopped and it won't stop now. However, as you can imagine, not all cleaning companies are reacting the same way to this pandemic.

How The Cleaning Industry Changed Since The Pandemic

As you can easily understand, the cleaning industry has a presence in many other different industries. So, a company whose main services are focused on retail, hospitality, leisure, and catering, has been struggling and some may not even survive this severe shock.  Since these industries had to deal with the shutdown, cleaning companies suffered as well as a direct consequence. However, cleaning companies that are more focused on hospitals and schools have seen a quick rise in the demand for their services for cleaning and disinfection.

What Can Cleaning Companies Do To Keep Their Doors Open

With economies all over the world seeing the negative effects of the shutdown, it is now time to start thinking about ways to recover. While not all cleaning companies have seen the demand for their services decrease, some did. If this is your case, then here are some of the things you should consider:

#1: Stay Current:

The reality is that we are all still trying to figure out how to prevent this virus from spreading even further. So, you should ensure that you are on top of the WHO and CDC guidance and announcements and comply with them.

#2: Look At All High-Touch Items And Equipment:

While your staff may be professional, the truth is that the COVID-19 taught us that we need to clean even the places that you may have never realized needed to be clean. Just think of railings on back stairways, doorknobs, kitchen appliance handles, coffeepot handles, vending machines, and electronics that are used by multiple users.

#3: Review Cleaning Procedures:

As a good cleaning company, you probably already have detailed cleaning processes. However, you should take a closer look at them and upgrade them. After all, you want to ensure that using the right disinfectants is only a small part of your job. You also need to train your staff to use them correctly. Besides, you should take the time to add disinfection procedures, dilution, and even dwell time.

#4: Connect With Your Clients:

In case you haven't heard from your clients, it's probably a good idea to get in touch with them. This is a great opportunity to remember them that you are there to help them through these challenging times and provide different ways to accomplish this including video calls if necessary.
